Join SWR instructors Karyna Todd and Laura Kurup for 2 days of hands-on Swiftwater Rescue training on the Potomac River in DC! Over two action-packed days, we'll cover the most essential rescue skills: wading techniques for moving water, using throw ropes, boat-based rescue, and more. Together, we'll experience the river in new ways, practice common rescue scenarios, and build muscle memory and confidence. You'll walk away empowered to be the paddler who can step up when something unexpected happens on the water.
This course is open to all women, trans, and non-binary paddlers. Inclusion is at the heart of Paddlesport Institute, and we believe that everyone deserves to feel strong, safe, and completely at home on the river. Creating affinity spaces, like this course, helps to deepen learning, elevate new perspectives, and strengthen community on the water.
