This Level 3-4 Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop will be facilitated by L4 River Kayak ITE Jordan Taylor and Instructor Trainer Candidate Sam Stone.
We will work in on the Middle and Lower Youghigheny River at Ohiopyle PA as well as on the Potomac near DC.
The ACA recommends you complete a skill assessment for Level 3-4 to participate in this course. A phone call or email recommendation from an ACA Instructor can suffice.
Course fee: $750 (deposit required to hold spot)

Sam Stone has been paddling since discovering the joys of sea kayaking as a youth on the coast of Maine. Since those formative years, Sam pursued instructor certifications in numerous paddlesports disciplines while simultaneously honing his understanding of educational pedagogies through a masters of education and now teaches at the university level. Prior to transitioning to a formal education setting, he worked as a full time paddlesports instructor across the country, most recently at Calleva’s River School. Sam is presently an L5 whitewater kayak instructor, L4 sea kayak instructor, L4 swiftwater instructor, and L4 packraft instructor.
Jordan Taylor has thirty years of experience instructing whitewater and has served many organizations in an instructor development role: Davidson College Outdoor Program (NC) The Calleva River School (DC), National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center (CO), Zoar Outdoor (MA), Madawaska Canoe Center (Ontario) and others. Taylor is passionate about educational spaces designed with lots of different kinds of people in mind.
