  • Kayak

    A smile, a long forward stroke, a river wave to the face, splash, giggle, repeat. We offer an inclusive teaching style designed to challenge the athlete in all of us. Skill development beginner through advanced includes venues on flatwater through Class 4+. rapids.

  • Rescue

    When the vibe changes on the River, will you be ready? Rise to the occasion in your crew’s harder moments. We offer high caliber rescue skills development, as well as a rescue skills credential class. Our program currently has 3 levels: Intro-Intermediate (16 hours, no preprequisite) Intermediate PLUS (16 hours prior training required) and Advanced (32 hours prior training required). Whether you are taking your first training, or have already seen a lot and want to prepare for the weirdest stuff we have a class for you. Oh, and its pretty flippin’ fun!

    Rescue Instructor Development also available.

  • Canoe

    Single blade paddles, no sprayskirt needed thank you! The river offers possibilities that you can unlock only if you’re kneeling reaching for a cross stroke. Skill development beginner through advanced includes venues on flatwater through Class 3+ rapids. Instruction for both Solo and Tandem Canoes.

  • Expedition Programs

    Jordan loves building community through River Expeditions. With his three decades of experience instructing and leading whitewater he has connections and partnerships with a variety of commercial outfitters to offer focused instruction on multiday trips. These offerings rotate. Please reach out for details.

  • Special Events

    Pop up Practice session like Rescue Simulations or Rescue Skills Competitions help keep skills sharp without needing to commit to a multiple day training.

  • Instructor & Instructor Trainer Development

    We offer Development & Certifications for aspiring and returning Instructors and Instructor Trainers in Kayak, Canoe and Rescue for many skill levels. For Instructors this is usually a 5-6 day workshop. For upating or upgrading Instructors we offer a 2-3 day program. For Instructor Trainers there is a longer apprenticeship/mentorship model by assisting with our Instructor Development Program. Jordan Taylor is one of about 40 Instructor Trainer Educators worldwide, holding Level 4 ITE certifications in Kayak and Canoe. He is also an Instructor Trainer for Rescue and Level 5 Kayaking. He is a level 5 Rescue Instructor.

Private Instruction

This is ideal for anyone who wants more focused attention on individual or group goals that don’t fit neatly into existing classes, or when schedules don’t quite line up.

$100/hr for one person (or per tandem boat)

$125/hr for two people

$150/hr for three or more people

$350/half day (3-4 hours)

$500/full day (5-6 hours)

For Potomac venues there is a 2 hour minimum for private instruction. For venues further from my home I may charge a travel fee as well. Email me for booking inquiries.

March 8-11, April 4-7 SWIFTWATER Rescue Instructor Development & Certification

Ocoee River and nearby venues. Hosted by Tennessee Valley Canoe Club

Exact Dates and Fee TBD. This 6 day ACA workshop is one of the required steps to certify as a Level 3-4 Swiftwater Rescue Instructor.

March 15-16 Intermediate PLUS SWIFTWATER Rescue

This course picks up where a traditional 2 day course leaves off, and runs from there. We have an increased focus on what to do when your first one or two ideas for rescue don’t work. We also train in harder venues.

Prerequisite 16 hours prior Swiftwater Training.

March 22-23 ADVANCED Swiftwater Rescue

$250. This 2 day course trains under difficult conditions. Potomac and other DC area venues.

We will spend the morning getting to know each other as a team through some practice of increasingly challenging skills then switch to practicing rescue leadership through rescue scenarios. Optional night-ops training will continue after the sun goes down. Day 2 will include some advanced rope work, as well as more scenarios.
